It appears that DeMar DeRozan has got the “Alamo Blues” as he is reportedly unhappy in San Antonio and want’s out of the “Alamo City” according to an anonymous NBA agent quoted in an article in The Atheltic by Ben Standig and Mike Vorkunov.
Not sure it means much of anything, but here’s an excerpt on DeMar DeRozan in an Athletic article I read at lunch: pic.twitter.com/vo46WTm9xX

“DeMar DeRozan doesn’t like San Antonio and doesn’t want to be there. If those guys leave, they land with Dwane Casey in Detroit. That relationship with former coach is strong. Comes down to money (for Fred VanVleet) and the situation in Toronto is rough with the taxes. VanVleet on the Pistons elevates his status as the number 1-2 guy on the team.”
Despite securing the seventh-seed following the summer blockbuster trade in 2018 that sent him to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors, the Spurs finished the regular season with a disappointing 32-39 record missing the 2020 playoffs in his second season with the silver and black.
The four-time All-Star has a $27.7M player-option to mull on this offseason. If DeRozan decides to opt out and test the free agency market he would be among the premier players on the free-agent market if he declined the final year left on his contract.
Unsurprisingly DeMar DeRozan has “clapped back” in his latest tweet by denying he ever said this.
